RK 4542-S Flatbed Series Servo Die Cutting & Hot Stamping Machine

A flat die presses straight down on the web, so it cuts thick stock, films and fine detail that a rotary die handles badly. The cost of a flatbed press has always been speed and set-up time. The RK 4542-S Flatbed Series is built to bring both down.

It is a servo flatbed die cutting machine for roll to roll work, ready for hot stamping. Servo motors drive the main press and the web pull, so the web advances the same distance on every stroke and the cut position holds across the whole roll. A Panasonic print mark eye reads pre-printed rolls, so the die cut follows the artwork. It cuts at up to 450 strokes a minute over a 430 x 420 mm die area on paper up to 450 mm wide, with die cut accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 mm.

The series comes in two forms. The 4542-450 Double Head has two stations, hot stamping and die cutting, in one pass: foil and the die cut shape land on the label together, in register, without moving the roll to a second machine. It runs up to 400 strokes a minute on 17 kW. The 4542-450 Single Head has one die cutting station, runs up to 450 strokes a minute and needs 10 kW. Both run at up to 70 m/min.

Unwind and rewind take rolls up to 650 mm diameter, so long runs continue with fewer roll changes. The machine is set and monitored from a touch screen motion control, and the waste matrix is rewound online. Lamination, slitting, a flexo unit, a sheet cutter and a conveyor can be added to the line as the jobs need.
